Tableau Desktop Installation and Activation Instructions
- Go to https://www.tableau.com/academic/students#form
- Fill out the form using your @illinois.edu email
- You should receive an email from Tableau usually within 10 minutes. It may take longer.
- If you do not receive an email within 24 hours, check if you already have an active academic license from another course. Tabealu ignores the form submission if you have an active (unexpired) academic license.

Tableau
Tableau provides three different products. For this course, we will only use Tableau Desktop. You can safely assume that I'm referring to Tableau Desktop whenever I say Tableau.
Tableau is a data visualization software that lets you see and understand data. While most data scientists and analysts would prefer using Python or other programming languages to visualize data, Tableau can be a great alternative if you prefer a graphical user interface (GUI) software.
